Digitalization in focus – Scandinavians are way ahead

International exchange of our partner savings banks

Colleagues from Sparkasse Bremen and Dr. Tim Nesemann visited our association member, Sparbanken Syd, in Ystad, Sweden. Sparbanken Syd is Sweden’s oldest savings bank, operates in southern Sweden, and remains completely independent.

Are the Scandinavian countries truly ahead of other European countries in terms of digitalization? How have customer focus and working practices changed as a result? These were the questions experts from IT and strategy at Bremer Sparkasse set off for Ystad with when they traveled to Ystad. A large team led by Henrietta Hansson, CEO, and Johan Sandberg, Deputy CEO, spent a full day reporting on the status of their savings bank’s digitalization and the opportunities offered by the Swedish framework. This international perspective enabled the Bremen colleagues to take home many ideas and food for thought.

The evening was characterized by inspiring conversations in a wonderful Swedish atmosphere and with plenty of hospitality. In the end, one thing became clear to everyone: shared values across national borders and 800 kilometers apart connect our savings banks and the people who work for them.

A friendly welcome in Ystad: The board and specialists of Sparbanken Syd took the time to present the state of digitalization in Sweden to Dr. Tim Nesemann and experts from Sparkasse Bremen.
